The ASCA 2022 Conference & Expo returned in person after two years of virtual conferences. The meeting is taking place at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center stands on the shores of Lake Grapevine and features a 10-acre water park, four-and-a-half acres of indoor garden atriums, four restaurants, bars, a spa and a fitness center.

Peter Daly, MD, chief medical officer and cofounder of One World Surgery, and Thomas M. Deas, Jr., MD, retired vice president of physician engagement at North Texas Specialty Physicians, received this year’s Nap Gary Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement in the ASC Community.

Captain Tammie Jo Shults delivered the keynote speech during the opening session of the conference. A former Southwest Airlines pilot, Shults is one of the first women to go through A-7 weapons training and one of the first to fly the F/A-18 Hornet.

After two years of virtual events, the ASCA 2022 Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas, is back in person and wraps up tomorrow. The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is abuzz with 1,940 participants, 179 exhibiting companies and 24 sponsors.

For more than two decades, ASCA’s annual conference has remained the ASC industry’s most highly regarded and well-attended event. Physicians, administrators, nurses, managers and owners of ASCs from across the country and throughout the world attend this conference.

ASCA 2022’s main program is approved for up to 15 administrator education units (AEU) for the Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) credential by the Board of Ambulatory Surgery Certification (BASC) Provider # 3272; up to 15 nursing contact hours by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 6949; and up to 3.5 infection prevention contact hours (IPCH) for the Certified Ambulatory Infection Preventionist (CAIP) credential by BASC Provider # 3272.

Don’t miss the Celebration Luncheon today at noon and learn about and reflect on the numerous accomplishments of the ASC industry. Entertainment will be provided during the lunch.

Later this evening, join your colleagues for the ASCA 2022 social event for a night of dancing, good food and craft cocktails at the Glass Cactus nightclub, right on the Gaylord property. The nightclub features a 2,000-square-foot dance floor and a 13,000-square-foot deck overlooking Lake Grapevine. Friday night is your night to unwind.

During downtime, take a dip in the 10-acre outdoor pool and 600-foot-long lazy river or ride one of the four winding waterslides. The resort also offers a European-style spa, a modern fitness center and multiple restaurants.

If you want to venture into Dallas, there are plenty of great activities to choose from. Visit The Sixth Floor Museum, which chronicles the life and assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Walk around the 66 acres of gardens and vistas at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Sit in a replica of the Oval Office at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. Take in a Dallas Stars hockey game at American Airlines Center.
