Bend Surgery Center Gets Gold Seal
MARCH 14, 2025
Bend Surgery Center of Bend, Oregon, has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Care Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards, according to a release. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and high-quality patient care.
Bend Surgery Center received The Joint Commission's accreditation in 1998 and remains the only surgery center in central Oregon to hold this prestigious accreditation, according to the release.
The ASC underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review. During the visit, a team of reviewers from The Joint Commission evaluated compliance with ambulatory care standards across multiple areas. The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts, providers, measurement experts and patients, according to the release. These standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help healthcare organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
“As a healthcare accreditor, The Joint Commission works with healthcare organizations across care settings to inspire a safer and higher quality of care that is more equitable and compassionate,” said Ken Grubbs, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer at The Joint Commission, in the release. “Through collaborating on innovative solutions and evidence-based resources and tools, The Joint Commission helps drive improvement while maintaining accountability through our leading survey methods and standards. We commend Bend Surgery Center for its commitment to advancing safety, quality, equity and compassion for all patients.”
"We have a strong and dedicated team that has continued its record of excellence since 1998," said Todd Currier, CASC, ASCA Board treasurer and chief executive officer and administrator of Bend Surgery Center in his LinkedIn post. "We are proud to retain our nationally recognized Gold Seal given for our high standards of quality and safety."
