Thanks to a perfect storm that has been brewing in the US healthcare system for years, care providers in the US are experiencing a nursing shortage that is projected to intensify through 2030. Baby Boomers are aging and their need for healthcare is growing; nursing schools are struggling to expand capacity to meet that rising demand for care; many nurses retired after the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic; and many others left their positions for more lucrative travel nursing jobs. ASCs are facing intense competition for strong candidates, and good team members are increasingly difficult to come by. Highly trained healthcare workers now have multiple offers to choose from and know that they are in high demand.
