Since 2018, SCA Health, headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, has offered a development program for nurses interested in working in the operating room (OR) of its ASCs. Some of the many factors that motivated the company to create the program, says Kelly Kapp, RN, SCA’s clinical education director and the program’s overseer, were building interest in working in the OR, helping with nurse recruitment, combating staffing shortages, reducing reliance upon agency nurses and improving staff retention.
