The ASCA 2023 Conference & Expo is in the homestretch in Louisville, Kentucky! The Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) is abuzz with more than 1,900 attendees, including more than 180 exhibitors and 29 sponsors.

ASCA 2023 features

The main program for this year’s conference is approved for up to 12.25 units of administrator education unit credits for the Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) credential by BASC Provider #3272; up to 12.25 nursing contact hours by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #6949; and up to 4.25 infection prevention contact hours for the Certified Ambulatory Infection Preventionist (CAIP) credential by BASC Provider #3272.
ASCA’s Backyard in the exhibit hall this year features popular backyard games like ping-pong, putting greens and airplane tosses. Attendees have flocked to ASCA’s Backyard and made it a hot spot!
During this afternoon’s Celebration Luncheon, ASCA Board Member David Shapiro, MD, CASC, presented the Nap Gary Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement in the ASC Community to Kathy Bryant, former chief executive officer of ASCA. In addition, Cindy Young, RN, CASC, CAIP, administrative director of Surgery Center of Farmington, recognized the inaugural class of ASCA’s ASC Administrator Development Program; One World Surgery representative Brittni Palkert talked about their Medical Mission program and scholarship opportunities for ASCA members; and Debra Stinchcomb, RN, CASC, senior consultant with Progressive Surgical Solutions, gave an update on the Board of Ambulatory Surgery Certification. Attendees enjoyed the band Still Unknown during the leisurely sit-down lunch.
Later this evening, join your colleagues for the ASCA 2023 social event at the Kentucky Derby Museum. Expect good food, craft cocktails and a fun time at this one-of-a-kind venue located next door to Churchill Downs.
For downtime, KICC is within walking distance of several distilleries and Whiskey Row, a thriving entertainment district. While you’re in Louisville, see live racing at Churchill Downs or take a tour of the Muhammad Ali Center or the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. If you are adventurous, head over to the Louisville Mega Cavern for underground zip lining and aerial ropes courses.
