Encouraged by growing interest in consumerism and the need for healthcare cost containment, the US Department of Health & Human Services adopted a new hospital price transparency rule that went into effect January 1 this year. While this ruling and its requirements apply only to hospitals at this time, there is no denying that all of healthcare, including ASCs, physician offices and other providers, are focused on transparency and costs.
