ASC, Physician Owners Partner to Launch Joint Venture

Chesapeake Regional Surgery Center – Virginia Beach in Virginia Beach, Virginia, part of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, partnered with two physician-owned entities, Cape Surgical and the Obelisk Group, according to a February 22 release.The ASC first opened in 2015 as a hospital department. As a jointly owned surgery center, it now will offer even more value to the community, according to the release.

“This innovative partnership provides patients with surgical expertise specializing in urologic procedures and minimally invasive spinal surgery," said Jennifer Miles-Thomas, MD, a physician partner, in the release. "Patients throughout the Hampton Roads region will benefit from the state-of-the-art equipment and robotic technology that greatly optimizes patient outcomes and enhances recovery. In addition, the surgery center will generate cost-efficient solutions for patients, providers and payers.”
