ASC Community Mourns Passing of Andrew T. King

Andrew T. King, CASC, a passionate ASC advocate and longtime leader in the Georgia Society of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (GSASC), passed away peacefully at his home in Marietta, Georgia, on December 3. King was a principal at and the owner of Marietta-based Acumen Healthcare, LLC, an ASC development and management company that assisted more than 150 ASCs in 20 states. He also was the secretary/treasurer of GSASC.

During his nearly 40-year career in healthcare management, King spent nearly 16 years serving simultaneously as senior vice president of Medical Care America and executive vice president of Medical Care International and more than 11 years at the helm of Acumen Healthcare. He also served as president of GSASC. King earned BA/BS degrees in health/healthcare administration/management from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1976 and MBA/MHA degrees in hospital and healthcare administration from The George Washington University in 1980.

“Andy was a wealth of knowledge, a heart of gold, smart, approachable, strategic bright mind and an undying passion for our industry in Ambulatory Care,” said GSASC President Jean L. Calhoun, RN, in a tribute. “I just cannot say enough great things about Andrew T. King.”
