CBO Report Shows the Rise of Medicare Advantage

What this means for surgery centers

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the nonpartisan agency that provides economic estimates and analysis to Congress, recently released The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2022 to 2032. The report projects budget and economic effects across the entire federal government assuming taxes and spending remain unchanged. As part of the report, CBO provided new Medicare spending and enrollment projections that clearly show an important trend: the rise of Medicare Advantage (MA) within the program. As recently as 2005, MA, also known as Medicare Part C, covered less than 15 percent of Medicare beneficiaries according to an issue brief from the Commonwealth Fund.
