Kathy Wilson, RN, has been named executive director of the ASC Quality Collaboration, the organization created in 2006 to develop quality measures for ASCs.

Wilson has more than 30 years of experience in the ambulatory care environment and extensive experience in ASC quality management and reporting. Most recently, she served as vice president of quality at Amsurg, where she worked for nine years. At Amsurg, Wilson developed a quality and risk management program to support more than 260 ASCs; established a data repository for quality, risk, accreditation and regulatory survey reports; created a system for reporting quality indicators to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; participated in physician advisory boards; developed and implemented a quality strategic plan; and served as the Amsurg representative to the ASC Quality Collaboration.

Prior to her position with Amsurg, Wilson served as assistant vice president of clinical services for HCA and, earlier, as the administrator of HCA’s largest volume ASC at the time in Plantation, Florida. Wilson holds a master’s in healthcare administration from Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana, and a nursing degree from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

“I am honored to be assuming the position of executive director,” Wilson said. “This is a collaboration in the truest sense, and together we will continue to advance the measurement and demonstration of safe, high-quality care delivered in ambulatory surgery centers.”
