Envision Supports Navajo Nation Fight COVID-19

Envision Healthcare Corporation of Nashville, Tennessee, owner of Amsurg, recently donated 45,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation, a health system in Arizona that serves the Navajo, Hopi and Southern Paiute tribes, according to an August 4 press release.

“We will continue to support communities like the Navajo Nation that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19," said Jim Rechtin, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Envision, in the release. “The PPE we are providing will help save lives during this pandemic, as our teams work together on the front lines to care for patients and fight the spread of the virus.”

Envision provides care to patients across the nation. Through its VISTA team, clinicians are supporting the Navajo Nation in treating patients.

“We are grateful for the support and donation from Envision, which helps us continue providing patients safe, accessible, quality and culturally sensitive care as we fight this pandemic," said Lynette Bonar, CEO of Tuba City, in the release. “We are a strong-willed and resilient community, and together, we will persevere."

The company also has sent critical care physicians and advanced practice providers to multiple hospital systems throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and to a hospital in Tucson to provide additional clinical support in the intensive care unit.

In addition, Envision has expanded its virtual healthcare services throughout the state by launching tele-triage capabilities at three Arizona hospitals. Tele-triage enables clinicians to evaluate a patient while observing social distancing.

The medical group’s physicians specializing in pain management have conducted more than 22,000 virtual visits in the Phoenix metropolitan area for those living with chronic pain since the outbreak in mid-March.
