Compass Surgical Partners Appoints New COO

Compass Surgical Partners appointed Chris Fromme as chief operating officer (COO). His arrival comes at a pivotal time as Compass advances ASC joint ventures and operations amid growing momentum for physician–health system alignment that expands access to outpatient surgical care, according to a release.

Fromme has more than 25 years of leadership in provider-led, multisite healthcare organizations spanning ambulatory surgery, dental and behavioral health. As a senior operations leader at United Surgical Partners International, he led ASC joint ventures in multiple states. Over his career, he has executed numerous acquisitions and de novo developments, helping organizations scale into larger, more impactful systems and generating significant value for partners, according to the release.

“Chris is a proven leader who has demonstrated success in scaling healthcare services companies while maintaining a strong focus on clinical excellence, operational performance and patient experience,” said DJ Hill, chief executive officer of Compass, in the release. “His extensive work with health systems, combined with his ability to align diverse stakeholders, will help Compass continue to deliver measurable value for patients, as well as physician and health system partners.”

Fromme’s appointment comes at a transformative moment for the ASC community, according to the release. Site-of-service policies have already become a reality for many private payers, and CMS’ proposed removal of the inpatient-only list signals further acceleration of surgical case migration into outpatient settings. These dynamics are creating fresh urgency for physicians and health systems to join forces and build sustainable outpatient strategies.

“The next three to five years will be pivotal for ASC joint ventures, and I’m excited to join the Compass team at a time of strategic growth and opportunity,” Fromme said in the release. “As COO, I will focus on creating environments where clinicians can deliver exceptional patient experiences.
