The expanded collaboration extends a long-standing relationship between Medtronic and Mindray from the hospital environment into ambulatory surgery. Mindray was among the first OEM partners to integrate Medtronic BIS brain monitoring and INVOS regional oximetry into its patient monitoring platforms, creating a foundation for the organizations to bring integrated monitoring capabilities to ASCs.

Why integrated patient monitoring matters in today’s ASC
As ASCs take on increasingly complex procedures, clinicians need a more complete picture of each patient’s condition without adding complexity to their workflow. Rather than relying on a single measurement, clinicians often need multiple data points to understand a patient’s status throughout a procedure. The Medtronic-Mindray collaboration brings four advanced monitoring technologies together on a single platform, giving care teams access to multiple clinical measurements within one integrated system designed for the ASC environment.
Together, the platform helps clinicians answer four essential questions during patient care:
- Is oxygenation adequate?
- Is the patient ventilating effectively?
- What is the depth of anesthesia?
- Are the brain and vital organs receiving sufficient oxygen?
Those questions are answered through the integration of four Medtronic monitoring technologies:
- Nellcor pulse oximetry monitors blood oxygen saturation.
- Microstream capnography measures end-tidal CO₂ to assess ventilation and respiratory status.
- BIS brain monitoring helps clinicians monitor the depth of anesthesia or sedation.
- INVOS regional oximetry monitors regional tissue oxygenation in the brain and other vital organs.
Why integration matters beyond the monitor in an ASC
For many ASC leaders, the question isn’t which monitoring technologies to choose — it’s how to implement and support them without adding unnecessary complexity. The Medtronic-Mindray collaboration was designed to simplify that process and evolve alongside an ASC’s needs. During the ASC Insights conversation, Tatum described visiting a large Midwestern ASC operating more than 60 procedure rooms across four different patient monitoring vendors. One clinician summarized the impact of a standardized platform simply:

Simplified purchasing. Rather than managing multiple standalone monitoring devices and vendors, ASCs can purchase Mindray patient monitors with Medtronic monitoring technologies integrated into the platform. Customers can work directly with Medtronic for parameter modules and consumables — helping streamline ordering and replenishment.
Designed to scale. ASCs don’t have to implement every monitoring technology at once. The modular platform allows centers to adopt the capabilities that match their current case mix and add additional parameters over time as needs evolve. Because Medtronic technologies are integrated into Mindray’s patient monitoring platform, implementation is designed to be straightforward, with Mindray leading platform installation and support.
Clinical education and ongoing support. Beyond the technology itself, the collaboration brings together the expertise of both organizations. Mindray supports the monitor platform, while Medtronic provides education and support for the integrated monitoring technologies, helping clinicians adopt new capabilities with confidence.
The future of patient monitoring in ASCs
