Disc Surgery Center at Palm Beach performs inaugural surgery

Jason M. Cuéllar, M.D., performed the first surgical procedure at the newly opened Disc Surgery Center at Palm Beach in West Palm Beach, Florida, on June 25, marking an important milestone for both the new ASC and Cuéllar Spine, according to a release. The opening expands the ASC’s surgical capabilities while advancing Cuéllar’s vision of delivering state-of-the-art, motion-preserving and minimally invasive spine care in a specialized outpatient setting.

As founding surgeon and medical director of Disc Surgery Center at Palm Beach, Cuéllar will lead the center’s clinical program while continuing to care for patients through Cuéllar Spine. The facility extends the practice’s comprehensive model of care by bringing evaluation, advanced diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation and recovery together within a coordinated outpatient experience, according to the release.

“My focus has always been on delivering the highest level of spine care in a setting designed around the patient’s experience,” Cuéllar said in the release. “The Disc Surgery Center at Palm Beach allows us to combine advanced surgical technology with specialized outpatient care and personalized recovery options while maintaining the individualized attention and seamless coordination our patients have come to expect from Cuéllar Spine.”

The ASC’s inaugural patient, an active 82-year-old Palm Beach Island resident, walked comfortably shortly after his minimally invasive lumbar foraminotomy and was discharged less than two hours later — demonstrating the efficiency and patient-centered recovery made possible in a specialized outpatient setting.

The ASC released its roster of physician partners who will treat patients at the new 15,618-square-foot facility that houses three operating suites, seven preoperative rooms and five postanesthesia care unit bays, as well as a full-service musculoskeletal clinic with three exam rooms. All doctors are accepting new patients.

“The opening of Disc Palm Beach represents another important milestone in our commitment to expand patient access to high-quality musculoskeletal care throughout Florida,” said Lee Levanduski, CEO of TriasMD, Disc Surgery Centers’ parent company, in the release. “By bringing together exceptional physicians, advanced technology and a patient-centered model of care, we are creating a premier destination for outpatient spine and orthopedic treatment.”
