What changes in the OAS CAHPS Survey would make the experience easier and more productive?

The survey would be easier and more productive if surgery centers had the ability to eliminate questions that do not apply to their setting and to customize existing questions. This would help ensure the feedback collected is specific to the ambulatory surgery center experience. Currently, we receive many comments related to patients’ clinic visits rather than their surgical encounter, which skews the data and limits its usefulness for quality improvement within the surgery center. Allowing greater flexibility would improve accuracy, relevance and the overall value of the survey results.
