Pocono Ambulatory Surgery Center Receives Award

Pocono Ambulatory Surgery Center, a freestanding multispecialty ASC in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, got the 2023 Bizzy Award for Best Small Business from the Pocono Chamber of Commerce.

"The Bizzy Awards are a Hollywood Academy Awards-style competition between Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce member businesses in Northeast Pennsylvania," according to the awards site. "Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce members choose which category they would like to enter, there are 14 in all and you may enter more than one. However there is an entry fee for each category you enter. Ballots for voting will be sent out to all Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce members. Votes are then tallied and the winners announced at a televised awards dinner in September."

Pocono Ambulatory Surgery Center opened in 1986. It has won numerous national quality awards for patient satisfaction outcomes and has been listed as one of America's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers by Newsweek magazine for the past two years, according to a release. The center was one of the first ASCs to perform robotically assisted total knee replacement surgeries by Roger Componovo, MD, and one of the first to perform a vagus nerve stimulator implantation by David Brown, MD, to help with clinical depression that has failed medication therapy. The center has accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
